Quran & Islamic Studies Curriculum

We believe that Islamic studies is not just an academic subject, it's a way of living. At Iqra Montessori Academy, we will focus on building the character of our students according to Quran and sunnah. Teachers will incorporate Islam in daily routine and will ensure that the children will leave the classroom with a solid, authentic understanding of Islam.

The Islamic studies topics will be divided into seven sections:

Belief

• Who is our Lord? Where is Allah-Oneness of Allah

• What is our religion?

• Who is the last messenger?

• The names and attributes of Allah

Manners

• Islamic greetings

• Manners & Sunnah of eating/drinking

• Manners of cleanliness

• Manners of using the bathroom

• Respecting elders,  especially parents

History

• Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birth and early life

• Prophet Muhammad's character & his personality

• Story of Prophet Ibrahim AS

• Story of Prophet Adam AS

• Story of Prophet Musa AS

Worship

• Introduction to the five pillars of Islam

• Memorizing the shahada

• Salaah

• Zakat

• Importance of Ramadan & Sadaqah

• Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha

• Hajj

• Jummah

Quran

• Memorization of the last 15 surahs of the Quran

• Ayat-Al Kursi

Arabic

• Introduction to the Arabic letters & letter sounds

• Reading letters with harakat for the preparation of Quran recitation (When the child is ready)

• Numbers 1-10,  basic shapes, colors, days of the week & months of the year
